It was Spring time at Comfortable Place and everywhere you looked there were signs that summer was just around the corner. The birds were singing, trees were starting to bud, and the daffodils held their heads high in the front gardens of the houses. In Comfortable Place there is a Charity Shop, in the window display were decorated painted eggs and little yellow chicks. The children from the local school had designed cards for the shop which were displayed with pride right at the front. At the centre of the display was a giant Chocolate Egg, which was to be the first prize in the raffle, drawn by the mayor on Saturday afternoon. |

The teddies who lived there, loved the bright and colourful display, especially as it attracted so many people to the shop. Biscuit, a cheerful and woolly teddy, had a great idea. "Why don’t we have our own competition, lets see who can decorate the best egg!" The bears thought it was a brilliant idea and each one scurried away to a corner of the shop where they could work in secret. |

Sherbet, the shop dog and oldest resident, was put in charge of the judging. His decision was final, and no amount of dog biscuits would work as a bribe! |

Floyd, always thinking of new and exciting recipies to conjour up for anyone with a sweet tooth, volunteered to make the prize, he was going to bake his famous' triple chocolate and cream cake' which the bears adored. The Competition began. Each bear was given a sheet of paper with an outline drawing of an egg, and allowed to use whatever they could find in the shop to decorate it. There was lots of rustling and crashing as the bears searched the room to find suitable things that they could use.

Toffee, soft by name soft by nature, found some odd balls of wool at the bottom of a wicker basket and thought " I could use strands of wool to decorate an egg. " ‘A woolly egg’ was a good idea in theory but when he started to pull at the wool he got into a terrible tangle and managed to tie himself up in knots, tying himself to the leg of an old wooden chair. |

Mistletoe and Wine found a box of paints, they wanted to make the ‘brightest coloured egg’ ever.
Laurel and Hardy, the comedy duo as they were fondly known; they always ended up in an hillarious muddle. Mistletoe coloured in very carefully making sure he didn’t go over the lines, but unfortunately Wine wasn’t as fussy and went for a more carefree approach jumping up and down on the open tubes of paint, covering not only the paper but poor Mistletoe as well. |
